TITLE: Data Governance Manager
LOCATION: Remote
ANTICIPATED DURATION: Direct Hire
Data Governance Manager Responsibilities:
- Establish and oversee an enterprise-wide Data Governance framework aligned with business objectives, including data management strategies, governance policies, and quality processes.
- Advise data owners and leaders on Data Governance best practices and management techniques.
- Act as a liaison between teams to ensure data-related requirements are clearly defined and incorporated into operational plans.
- Develop and implement data quality and protection standards across the organization.
- Lead cross-functional decision-making processes, document outcomes, and ensure smooth execution of governance projects.
- Collaborate with teams to manage data collection, storage, and utilization in a compliant and consistent manner.
- Maintain an inventory of enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems and owners.
- Monitor and improve data quality by conducting root cause analysis (RCA) and remediation efforts.
- Represent Data Governance across all levels of the organization, providing best practices to data stewards and stakeholders.
Data Governance Manager Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in data management, business intelligence, or analysis-based environments.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in managing Data Governance programs, covering data standardization, modeling, inventorying, cataloging, and metadata standards.
- Strong collaboration skills with experience working across teams and levels of the organization.
- Expertise in driving data-driven decision-making and analytics processes.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data analysis, sufficient to lead governance processes and documentation.
- Ability to simplify complex business problems for a wide range of audiences.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Strong teamwork, work ethic, and deadline-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently and think critically.
- Experience with Atlan, Collibra, or similar tools preferred.
Data Governance Manager Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or related field.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM) and methodologies.
- Understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Excel, and Tableau.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)
- Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP)
The annual salary for this position is $130,000 to 150,000 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
