Position: Dailies Operator (Temporary)
Location: Carlstadt, NJ - Onsite
*Pay Range: $20.00 - $30.00 USD hourly
POSITION SUMMARY: Dailies Operators report to a Dailies Producer. This is a multi-faceted role and job requirements may be different from one project to the next. The Dailies Operator may be required to work on their own, as part of a team, on a single project or on multiple projects concurrently depending upon the needs of the department. They will primarily be responsible for providing dailies services, including logging and syncing, ingest of client picture and sound files, creation, quality control, and client delivery of dailies deliverables, archiving, and data management. While working on a dailies show, the Dailies Operator will provide support for the dailies colorist and help expedite deliveries. For on location work, the Dailies Operator may be cross-trained to calibrate monitors, location system breakdowns, shipping and receiving and to cover for Production on an as needed basis.
The Dailies Operator schedule will change based on department needs but will generally be a night shift. Some roles may have a fixed schedule while others may change on a day-to-day basis. The candidate may be required to travel.
MAIN DUTIES: The Dailies Operator will maintain constant communication with dailies team on Teams and Click Up, ensuring to accurately report the status of assignments (project/cam roll). They will offload, verify and log Original Camera Files and audio from a variety of media, as well as split and tag clips according to camera reports, script and sound reports. Candidates will sync audio to image via time code, slide as necessary where no TC match, check levels via audio meter, and QC image and audio, and apply CDLs & LUT where applicable/required and compare to any stills supplied. Other duties include:
- Render, check, prepare and upload deliverables according to show spec.
- Prepare and copy media to iPad, shuttle drives as outlined in the show spec.
- QC both film and digital clips for a variety of issues depending on the source media and note any issues. Operator should perform thorough quality control checks noting artifacts, missing frames, missing picture, failed checksums, spot soft focus, and check against notes from supplied reports
- Check the vector scope and waveform monitor to identify exposure concerns when no Colorist is assigned (LUT app only shows)
- Content Creation and QC (Avid, FCP, H.264, DVD, Blu Ray, HDSR, and all other deliverables)
- Escalate issues internally through Dailies management team and production; ensure accurate reporting, communicating concerns with above processes to Dailies Producer, log TRTs of incoming footage, submit completion reports, log hours worked and upload and email ALEs, Flex Files, Avid Bins, and NDRs.
- Assist with all Dailies functions and other duties as needed.
WHAT YOU BRING: The ideal candidate will have an exceptional attention to detail and some experience with television or major motion pictures. They will have a working knowledge of film and digital capture workflows with a strong understanding of post-production and color pipelines is preferred. Additionally, some experience with On Set Dailies (OSD), Resolve, EXD and Avid Media Composer is preferred. The ideal candidate will have an excellent work ethic and positive attitude, effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently and remain calm in a fast-paced work environment. Additional desired skills include:
- Must have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Experience with motion picture images and QC a plus.
- Experience with Resolve, Colorfront OSD and EXD a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications.
- A proficient understanding of all tools used in dailies.
- Travel may be required.

*The listed pay range represents the lowest to highest range that we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, local currency exchange rates, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, applicable law, and business or organizational needs.
The benefits for eligible part-time employees working 25 or more hours per week and full-time employees in the US include a comprehensive package of health, retirement, and insurance benefits and paid time off.
