Oakton College Youth STEAM program is looking for an enthusiastic and innovative instructor for the
2025 summer camp program.  The course instructor assists in developing hands-on curriculum and
teach PYTHON classes for children ages 8-14 that are fun, yet academically challenging.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Must have a degree in education and significant experience with classroom management
• Must have demonstrated experience using technology in teaching, training, or tutoring of youth
• (See potential subject matters below)
• Demonstrated experience with the subject matter 
• Must be enthusiastic about hands-on learning
  

Essential Functions of the Position: 

• Preparation of course presentations and instructional materials (as appropriate) 
• Delivery of instruction, including being prepared for and meeting courses and laboratories (if
• appropriate) at scheduled times
• Compliance with departmental and institutional policies and procedures including but not
• limited to submission of final grades 
  

Subject Matter includes: 

• Python Coding Skills

Hourly: $40-$50 hourly

Description:

The Oakton College Summer STEAM Camp program is looking for enthusiastic and innovative instructor(s) for the 2025 summer camp season to teach Foundational Python Coding and  Python Game Coding classes. We are looking for instructor(s) to develop and teach hands-on STEAM curriculum that is fun, yet academically challenging for students ages 8-14.. 

Class Descriptions:

Foundational Python Coding Ages 8-11

This workshop will introduce students to the Python programming language. Students will learn how to use conditional and repetition control structures for various practical programs. No coding experience required.

Python Game Coding Ages 11-14 

Students will learn how to query a chatbot (e.g., OpenAI ChatGPT, Google Gemini) to explore and code 2-D games using the Python programming language. Prior coding and gaming experience is recommended but not necessary.

Location: Oakton College Des Plaines Campus

Class Schedule:

Class 1: Foundational Python Coding: 7/21-7/24; 1-4pm

Class 2: Python Game Coding: 7/28-7/31; 1/4pm
