Job Description

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant will provide accounting and finance support to the business. This position reports to the Assistant Controller. As part of the Finance Team, this role provides crucial insight and services to our Business Unit leaders and the Finance organization.

This position is based in our Rancho Santa Margarita, California location, and the ideal candidate will be within commutable distance to that office location. A hybrid work model is available.

Responsibilities
  • Own the monthly close and financial statement process, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
  • Close the books monthly and prepare comprehensive financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows).
  • Conduct Balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation.
  • Manage AP / AR and collections.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits and tax filings.
  • Undertake other ad hoc projects and analysis as requested by senior management.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or another business-related field;
  • At least two years of directly related experience in an Accountant role;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present and explain complex information clearly and with the ability to question and validate information with professional skepticism;
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively;
  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to following processes meticulously;
  • Strong, self-motivated team player;
  • Assertive, able to cope with pressure, a team player;
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving and dynamic environment;
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook;
  • Hands-on experience in professional accounting experience (including AR/AP invoice process, bookkeeping, and payment process), preferred;
  • Experience with Netsuite preferred;
  • Previous experience working in a light manufacturing, e-commerce company, preferred.
