Your Job We are currently recruiting for a
Quality Manager for the Savannah River Mill in Rincon, Georgia. This role is responsible for leading the mill to improve and maintain quality performance for both finished product converting lines, as well as, paper machines. The core responsibilities are to be a working quality subject matter expert able to coach, guide and direct others to improve quality performance. Additionally, this role requires strong communication and change management skills. This role represents the Savannah River Mill both at the mill, as well as, with customer and corporate functions.
Our Team Savannah River Mill in Rincon, GA began operations in October 1986 and is considered a world-class operation in the industry. Five of the world's 12 largest tissue paper machines reside at the facility. Our operation is designed to produce products primarily from recycled fiber. We have over 50 converting lines that make the tissue, towel, and napkin products in our retail and away from home markets. We work to create mutual benefit and remove barriers to opportunity for our employees, customers, and communities.
What You Will Do - Develop and administer quality strategies and processes to meet GP Consumer Products' business and customer needs.
- Lead the development and implementation of a quality management process that profitably gives a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
- Develop and manage a voice of the customer process that collects and processes customer feedback in order to drive a deep understanding of customers' current and future needs.
- Manage the mill's product specifications.
- Lead the mill product stewardship program and interface with corporate product stewardship leaders.
- Lead product / process analyses or other product risk assessments and quality process deployments to proactively seek out and manage performance risk.
- Liaison between the various mill operating areas and facilitate continuous improvement in base sheet consistency to improve productivity and finished product quality.
- Leverage statistical process control to conduct experiments, validate testing processes and specifications and improve overall quality of base sheet and finished product.
- Establish, track and communicate a functional set of leading/lagging indicators that effectively measure quality performance.
- Lead periodic quality reviews with operating departments and track performance against key action plans.
- Communicate effectively and manage records according to policies.
- Lead/supervise and develop a department of quality lab technicians and quality engineers.
- Lead customer visits and meetings to successfully instill confidence in the mill's capability to deliver quality product.
- Partner with corporate quality organizations to drive continuous improvement and excellence in our quality systems.
- Lead the mill in establishing and achieving results as measured by Key Performance Indicators.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)- Experience driving measurable improvement in product quality in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with executing quality processes including change management, CAPA/RCA, and continuous improvement.
- Use of statistical tools for data analysis to monitor quality performance.
- Supervisory and leadership experience
What Will Put You Ahead - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Quality Management
- Experience as a quality manager
- Experience in statistical process control
- Working knowledge of paper and converting operations
- Experience coaching and developing others
