Principal Process Engineer reporting directly to the Delivery Manager, to join our team based in Houston, Texas.
About the Job The
Principal Process Engineer will provide Process support across a range of conceptual and PreFEED projects. The Principal Process Engineer will have demonstrated knowledge of applied Process skills including the modeling of the dynamic behavior of the processing systems. Will be expected to manage studies related to all aspects of hydrocarbon processing including but not limited to oil processing hydrocarbons from wellheads to refining, gas processing, Petrochemicals, water treatment, Hydrogen production, carbon-di-oxide management, etc., and associated utilities and will be expected to provide guidance and overviewing of other engineers' work. The Principal Process Engineer may also be required to manage the technical interface with vendors regarding technology application and technical package evaluation. The Principal Process Engineer should also have some experience in the start-up commissioning activities of facilities.
The Principal Process Engineer would be expected to be a self-starter and complete Process activities without much supervision. There would be plenty of challenging activities on the job where the Principal Process engineer would be expected to show their creativity and ability to manage the challenges within the allotted time and budget constraints.
Role Responsibility - Responsible for successful study/project execution on the technical portion
- Deliver projects in compliance with internal and/or Client processes; accountable for the quality of the service, assessed by Client feedback forms.
- Analyze project specifications, tender, and proposal requirements.
- Technology evaluation, selection, and economic assessment.
- Process configuration and optimization studies.
- Contributes to the development of design parameters and methodologies.
- Prepares technically correct, safe, environmentally friendly, cost & time effective discipline engineering analysis and solutions for approval.
- Design basis and philosophy documents (safeguarding, shutdown, relief & blowdown, isolation)
- Process modelling, simulations, and calculations.
- PFDs and heat & material balance
- MSD and material selection philosophy
- Process and Utility P&IDs. P&ID development including selection of design conditions, hydraulic analysis, line sizing and pipe specifications, equipment isolation, vent and drain systems, cause and effects.
- Utilities and chemicals consumption summaries.
- Participates as discipline lead or area lead in safety, environmental, and operability reviews (HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SIL).
- Working with the operational teams (consultants, engineers, and drafter/designer),
- Global collaboration to ensure continuous improvement and simplification of processes and tools, focusing on digitalization.
- Develop project deliverables and recommendations and summarize them through technical reports and presentations.
- Will work in a multidisciplinary study/project environment where communication with other discipline engineers and organizational management is key to success.
- Supports cost and schedule estimates for decision support packages.
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering or related fields, or Master's would be preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience within the Energy Industry with an emphasis on pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.
- An all-around experience in upstream/ downstream segments and some exposure to energy transition would be preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience with process modeling tools like UniSim, HYSYS, ASPEN Plus, VMGsim
- Prepares technically correct, safe, and effective analysis and solutions.
- Works independently applying advanced techniques and analysis within the discipline.
- Provides less experienced engineers with guidance and training and check their deliverables.
- Should have had experience in estimating and creating execution plans for Process work scopes.
- Experience in class 5/4 cost estimation would be a plus.
- Strong written and communicational skills are essential.
