Digital Marketing Specialist FT Location Waukegan, IL :
Status of Employment: Full-Time, Year-Round, Exempt

Description/ Duties: Promote Waukegan Park District programs, facilities, special events, projects, and services and communicate their value and benefits to the public through print and electronic media. Communicate with residents to attract and engage their use of and participation in programs and services.
Essential Functions:
- Create communication materials to inform the public about and promote Waukegan Park District activities, events, projects and programs including, but not limited to, press releases, quarterly magazine articles, newsletters, program guides, in-person promotional events and social media postings.
- Assist in planning and marketing all district special events and projects.
- Assist staff in developing articles, stories, and other written materials.
- Lead in video creation and editing.
- Lead in the creation and distribution of electronic newsletters.
- Participate in the scheduling and development of newspaper ads.
- Create and send emails to promote programs, facilities, and events using Constant Contact and maintain database/user lists for the newsletters.
- Update and maintain the park district's website including the quarterly event calendar. Coordinate with other staff to ensure information is accurate and up to date.
- Share information to social media, promotional sites, and news media.
- Keep social media content updated to boost customer engagement.
- Schedule timing of content on digital media platforms.
- Ensure brand consistency across all communications and digital media channels.
- Coordinate and maintain the mobile app for the district using accurate and current content.
- Represent the district in a professional manner at events such as job and resource fairs, community and special events, and collaboration with partners. Coordinate details for these events as needed.
- Take photos/videos at Waukegan Park District events, activities and facilities; edit photos/videos; develop videos/slideshows/PowerPoint presentations for use by the district, on website and social media outlets; and add photos/video to the website and photo library.
- Maintain the district's archive of photos and videos. Ensure that information about the items is accurate and complete and that they are added to the archive in a timely manner.
- Remain up to date with the latest digital media trends.
- Attend pertinent departmental/park district meetings and in house training sessions.
- Conduct self in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the park district.
- Participate in park district safety and training programs to ensure that work performed and services provided are implemented in a safe manner.
- Assist the Marketing and Community Relations Department with additional related tasks as needed.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in creative writing, journalism, communication, marketing, community relations, recreation, graphic design or related field preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in related field.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Knowledge:
- Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign and Illustrator.
- Constant Contact, Survey Monkey or similar newsletter services.
- Social media.
- Photography, editing techniques, and Adobe Photoshop software.
- Videography editing and YouTube video uploading.
- English composition structure and reference tools.
- Creative writing structure.
Hours : 40 hours/week. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned.
License / Certification:
- Valid driver's license required.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within one (1) year.
