P osition Overview: The Employment Peer Mentor (EPM) uses personal experience with mental illness or substance abuse and behavioral health services to provide support, coaching, and mentorship to individuals in recovery. This role is fully integrated within the employment team and promotes self-determination, shared decision-making, and recovery-focused services.

Part-Time Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Flexible hours

Location:

• New Bern, Jacksonville

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized coaching and mentoring to promote recovery, self-advocacy, and self-direction.
• Deliver wellness strategies and employment services, including manualized interventions (e.g., Wellness Recovery Action Planning, Illness Management and Recovery).
• Assist in developing psychiatric advance directives for individuals served.
• Model recovery values to encourage wellness and resilience.
• Consult with team members to integrate beneficiaries' preferences into treatment.
• Participate in Person-Centered Planning and collaborate with the team.
• Empower individuals to exercise their legal rights within the community.
• Offer employment services interventions and case coordination.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation and participate in peer reviews.
• Complete the DMH-approved IPS training and adhere to IPS Fidelity Model.
• Maintain regular attendance and follow policies regarding time off.
• Demonstrate Easter Seals' values of Accountability, Commitment, and Caring.
• Complete all required training within specified timeframes.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certified NC Peer Support Specialist.
• Must be a current or former recipient of mental health services.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Valid, unrestricted NC driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
• Reliable transportation for travel within the service area.

Work Environment:

• Works as part of a team, with a mix of office and community-based work, including homes, shelters, jails, and hospitals. Services are delivered where individuals need them.
